I need any special software?
As long as you have a browser and an
Internet connection, you can get your Web site up and running.
Host4Half provides a Web-based FTP tool you can use to upload
your files as well as an optional site building tool you can
use to design your site. Of course, you can use your own FTP
and HTML applications if you like.
Once I place an order,
how long does it take to get my site up and running?
Once you place your order and your payment
is processed, it will take normally 12-24hrs. for your account
to be set up and the nameservers to resolve to ours.
What
operating system does Host4Half use?
Host4Half uses Linux platform. Our
Linux platforms run Apache Web server software.
What
type of control panel do we use to manage our account?
We provide a Web-based control panel,
cPanel, you can use to manage all areas of your Web hosting
account and access many useful tools. cPanel also provides three
email programs, Horde, NeoMail and SquirrelMail that enables
you to send and receive email.
Can
I access my site files at any time to make changes?
Yes. You can access your Web site files
at any time to upload files or make changes. You can use Host4Half's
Web-based FTP to access your files, or you can use a third-party
FTP client or Web development tool such as WS_FTP, Cute FTP
or FrontPage. Any changes you make to your site will take effect
immediately.
Does
Host4Half support Microsoft® Frontpage®?
Microsoft FrontPage provides users
with a What You See is What You Get (WYSIWYG) HTML editor and
includes a publish feature that enables users to transfer files
to and from the Web server. FrontPage also supports advanced
features such guest books and hit counters. All of Host4Half's
plans support Microsoft FrontPage and Microsoft FrontPage Server
Extensions.
What
database solutions does Host4Half provide?
Host4Half offers a number of database solutions. For select
Linux plans, Host4Half offers MySQL, an open source relational
database management system that utilizes the SQL database language.
It is a multi-user, multi-threaded database server that provides
speed, robustness and ease-of-use.
How do I manage and access
my account?
Host4Half provides a Web-based control
panel, cPanel, you can use to manage all aspects of your Web hosting
account.
Because both of these tools are
Web-based, you can access them at any time and from any location
as long as you have a browser and a connection to the Internet.
Does
Host4Half allow adult content sites?
Certain types of content are not allowed on our network. We do
not host adult content of any description. Content relating to
Hacking, Cracking, Warez and IRC is not allowed. Software downloads
may only be hosted if you are the writer and copyright owner of
the software, all other software including freeware, shareware
and trial software is forbidden. Audio and video downloads may
only be hosted if you are the creator and copyright owner of the
work.
What
type of data center does Host4Half have?
Our data center offers complete redundancy in power, HVAC, fire
suppression, network connectivity, and security. Twelve more third
party backbone providers are available in the building via cross
connect OC48 . Fire suppression includes a pre-action dry pipe
system including VESDA (Very Early Smoke Detection Apparatus)
with over 700 smoke detectors between the two facilities.
